Randomized Alpha Sapphire Badges

Amber Badge

A badge for Rustboro City's Bug-type gym as seen in Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Alpha Sapphire. This badge – the first one designed – was especially focused on the idea of making the minimal change from the original badge needed to fit the gym's new type. As such, the the changes from the Stone Badge are that the edges are rounded instead of pointed – giving the appearance of butterfly wings – and the color scheme was adjusted to better match Roxanne's Volcarona.

The only thing I did for this after 2018-06-24 was adjust the shading slightly to not have a gradient on flat surfaces.

Claw Badge

A badge for the Dewford Town's Steel-type gym as seen in Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Alpha Sapphire. The attempt to invoke a claw-machine claw is because a claw is a grabbing appendage thing, like the hand depicted by the Knuckle Badge, but made out of metal instead of flesh. This does abuse perspective though, I think, and probably wouldn't work as well in an actual 3D model. The gem is Fortress-red; Clang-nose-cyan would have just as much justification, but there's already a lot of blue in this set.

Mantle Badge

A badge for Mauville City's Ground-type gym as seen in Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Alpha Sapphire. Rhyperior/10. Fairly boring otherwise. Probably the obvious direction would depict a globe and its axis, not unlike Glazed's Core badge, but I don't think such a direction would fit the rest of this set, color wise or etcetera.

Breath Badge

A badge for Lavaridge City's Dragon-type gym as seen in Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Alpha Sapphire. This just required changing the colors and outline slightly, and viola Dragonair profile. The original even includes a gem, a la Dragonair's neck orb. This change I found eerily convenient.

Blend Badge

A badge for Petalburg City's Rock-type gym as seen in Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Alpha Sapphire. Basically, a balance badge that's missing one of its heads. Designed to look like a guitar, to expand on the prexisting music pun. The "strings" are intended to be engravings, although I'm not confident that the light demonstrates that intention.

Petal Badge

A badge for Fortree City's Grass-type gym as seen in Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Alpha Sapphire. The rose doesn't really match any of Winonna's mons, especially not the Serperior that gave us the most trouble, but the rose pattern looks like the Feather Badge more than a leaf or tree badge would. I personally really like the gradient on this one.

Instinct Badge

"We've been working together for so long that we don't even need to think to make an effective team." A badge for Mossdeep City's Fighting-type gym as seen in Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Alpha Sapphire. After giving up on a wrestler-mask-like design (and not because that matched MegamanOmega's design – because I couldn't get the eyes to work with the constraints I gave myself), this is a pair of crossed swords, but if the swords were straight then the shape wouldn't fit with the other badges in this set, so I used these curved blades instead, even if it's not as iconic as the Doublade shape.

Overcast Badge

A badge for Sootopolis City's Flying-type gym as seen in Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Alpha Sapphire. If only Wallace had an Alteria, given how often he's associated with them canonically … I guess I could have tried to figure out a physical representation of a delta stream, but I'd guess that this better matches the Rain Badge's aesthetic than anything wind-related would be capable of. The shading on this one was a pain, and I'm still iffy on the gem.
